Contest-Winning Bloggers Visit 2 Colorado National Parks

DENVER (AP) — Some bloggers are visiting Colorado this week as part of a campaign to attract younger and more diverse visitors to national parks.

The eight young men and women won a contest to help promote the National Park Service's "Find Your Park" campaign through social media.

They left Denver Sunday for Great Sand Dunes National Park and will head to Mesa Verde National Park next. The winners include, Casey Schreiner of Los Angeles, the founder of the Modern Hiker blogger, who tweeted Monday about taking a sunrise hike on the dunes.

The adventure is organized by the National Park Foundation, the official charity of the national parks.

The Park Service will celebrate its centennial next year and the foundation says it wants to make sure parks stay relevant for the next 100 years.
