A homeowner told police he heard something in his yard and went outside and confronted one of the suspects, who fired two shots. No one was hurt in the shooting.

Deputies said they don't know whether the suspect fired those shots to scare the homeowner or in an attempt to harm him.

The suspect who fired the shots was described as being a black male who was 6 feet tall and was wearing a white shirt.

Police were still searching the area several hours later, and homeowners in the area were asked to be cautious.

"We do want homeowners to be aware when they come out (of their homes) we don't know if the suspect is fled and long gone or holed up somewhere in a back yard," Arapahoe County Sheriff's spokeswoman Julie Brooks said.

The suspect was described as being in his 20s. His name has not been released.
