Video Of Man Abusing Dog Helps Police Bring Animal Cruelty Charges

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A concerned neighbor is speaking out after she says a man abused his 5-month-old pit bull in Colorado Springs.

Police say they received several calls about the incident, but animal control didn't see any visible injuries to the puppy.

A woman shot video of the man throwing the dog. She also claims he kicked it. She didn't want to appear on camera for her own safety.

"As I was walking in the parking lot across the street, I saw him kicking the dog and start flinging him ... I started recording. A coworker of mine saw him choke the dog at one point. ... Every time the guy did something to him, the puppy came right back over. It didn't know what it was doing wrong," the woman said. "He's still a pup, so he's obviously been through some stuff. But hopefully with time and love, someone can help him change and give him a future."

The video helped police charge the man with animal cruelty. His name hasn't been released.

The puppy is now with the Humane Society.
