Road Rage Investigated In Damaging Crash

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Road rage was investigated in a crash that caused a lot of damage in Aurora on Thursday morning.

Police say the crash happened about 11:30 a.m. Thursday near Mississippi and Buckley in Aurora.

Two drivers were allegedly speeding in excess of 90 mph in the westbound lanes of Mississippi. Police said the driver of a Toyota sedan struck a blue SUV which was going the speed limit, caused the driver to lose control and crash.

The vehicles smashed through a fence and into Donnie Starnes' backyard.

"He had no control of his vehicle. As soon as it hit the curb it started rolling and just took out the fence," said Starnes.

The crash destroyed the backyard that Starnes had been working on all summer but he's glad it wasn't worse.

"I was very grateful and thankful that everybody in the vehicle was okay. Dogs really upset me... this shouldn't happen on a residential street," said Starnes.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries.

Police have not released the identity of the driver who caused the accident. He remained on the scene and was cited with reckless driving.
