Arson Suspect Charged In Fire At Westminster Apartment Complex

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- A man who neighbors say admitted to lighting fireworks inside his apartment that started a massive fire in a Westminster apartment complex has been charged in that case.

The fire on Sept. 6 caused $600,000 worth of damage to the Skyview Apartments, melted cars and displaced families from six units.

The fire started in a second floor apartment. One resident told CBS4 his neighbor, Christopher Meyer, admitted to playing with fireworks inside the home and the flames spread quickly.

On Thursday, Meyer, 34, was charged with criminal mischief and 33 counts of fourth-degree arson.

Meyer is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 2.
