Police Surround Motel In Lakewood After Shooting
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Police searched for a gunman on Tuesday after a late-night shooting near a motel in Lakewood that left one woman with gunshot wounds.
Police rushed to the location around 10:30 p.m. Monday when shots were fired near the Blue Sky Motel on West Colfax Avenue near Jay Street. Investigators believe an altercation led to 10 or more shots fired.
Dozens of officers and several patrol cars surrounded the motel early Tuesday morning. Much of the area was blocked off for about two hours.
Police said a woman was struck by a bullet in the shooting. She was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators don't believe she was the intended victim, rather struck by a stray bullet.
Investigators examined a vehicle that was parked on the street but it is unclear whether it is related to the shooting.
Police say a male suspect ran away after the shooting. There is no suspect description.
