Missing Mom, Son From Brighton Found In Mexico

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- A missing woman and her son from Brighton were found in Juarez, Mexico after they had been missing for nearly three weeks.

Paula Knapp and her 11-year-old son were located late Wednesday night in Juarez. They had last been heard from on Sept. 1 at their home in Brighton before they abruptly left.

Brighton detectives were following leads that they may be in Juarez with Knapp's boyfriend, Daryl Robb. Detectives were able to contact federal authorities at the border and were able to catch Knapp as she crossed the border back into El Paso, Texas late Wednesday afternoon.

Knapp was arrested on an outstanding nationwide warrant for a child dependency case.

After an interview over the phone with Brighton Police and federal authorities on scene, Knapp, 36, was able to take them to a hotel in Juarez where her son was located in a motel room with Robb.

Robb was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for sexual exploitation of a child. The child remains in the custody of welfare services in El Paso.
