'Pastels On 5th' Covers Sidewalks With Art & Donates To Crime Prevention

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - Sidewalk art took over downtown Loveland on Saturday as people created for a good cause.

Founded in 2011, "Pastels on 5th" takes place on the second Saturday of September, on 5th Street by the Loveland Museum.

Judges and visitors select their favorite works by professional, amateur, and student artists. The event benefits a group devoted to preventing crimes.

"Alternatives to violence ends up getting about $20,000 from this event through sponsorships, and there's people's choice voting so people pay a dollar to vote for their favorite square, so there's money raised at the event also," said Vicky Bryant, the Event Organizer.

Visitors also enjoy live music, food, and art made by children.
