2 Men Sought In Cabbie Murder

DENVER (CBS4) - CBS4 has learned that police have identified, and are looking for two men who they want to question in connection with last weekend's murder of cab driver Darren Bloomquist in Green Valley Ranch.

Multiple police sources have told CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass that Denver police were searching for the two men this week.

Police sources say they believe the two know they are the objects of the police search.

Denver police issued an internal bulletin to officers identifying the men, saying they may be involved in the Bloomquist case and warning officers to be cautious if they contact either man. Police sources also say that before his death, Bloomquist sent a message to his cab company, Metro Taxi, indicating he was uncomfortable with the passengers in his cab.

Bloomquist, 49, was found shot and killed early Saturday morning in Green Valley Ranch. Police sources said that while there was an active search underway for the two men who were wanted for questioning, no arrest warrants have been issued in the Bloomquist case. Both men who police have been looking for are thought by police to be connected to the Green Valley Ranch and Montbello areas.

A Denver police spokesman, Sonny Jackson, said the case was active and ongoing and he declined to discuss the officer safety bulletin cited by CBS4. Jackson said the department would like to talk to anyone with information about the Bloomquist murder.
