Police Agencies In State Receive Threat Alert, Then Shots Fired With Officers Close

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Law enforcement agencies in Colorado have been issued a warning after Aurora police received a threatening call Sunday.

Aurora Police Public Information Officer Diana Cooley would not go into detail about the call, but said "the remarks were alarming."

The call came in Sunday afternoon and surrounding departments were notified.

A spokesperson for the Denver Police Department confirmed they received an alert about the threat, adding the warning was shared through the Colorado Information Analysis Center.

The public information officer for CIAC also confirmed the alert was shared Sunday to its network of police and safety personnel. However, CIAC could not share what was in the alert.

Later Sunday evening, shots were fired in the direction of Aurora officers responding to an unrelated call near 17th and Elmira Street. Cooley said no one was hurt and investigators do not believe the shooting is related to the threat made just hours earlier. No arrests have been made.
