Men For The Cure Features Pink Ties, Fundraising

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - For 10 years, Men for the Cure has brought together men for a night dinner, drinks, cigars, and fundraising to fight breast cancer.

It started after the Diane O'Connor Thompson died of breast cancer. Her husband and several of his friends put together the event to raise money so that families have the resources needed in the battle against the disease.

Over the years, Men for the Cure has become an annual fundraising and educational event for men. It's raised $1.5 million for breast cancer programs and research at the University of Colorado Hospital.

The Breast Center at University of Colorado Hospital features state-of-the-art equipment including 3-D mammography and the Pink Life Saver, a mobile mammography van.

Men for the Cure is Thursday, September 24th at XJet in Englewood. Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction begin at 6:00. Dinner, live auction and program featuring guest speaker Joe Theismann begins at 7:30.
