Police Investigate 2 Similar Attempted Abductions In Windsor

WINDSOR, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Windsor are investigating after two similar attempted abductions by strangers who approached children while they were walking in the past week.

The first incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday as an elementary school student was walking in the Windsor West neighborhood. She was approached by an older, boxy, four-door, possibly a Lincoln or Buick with a male driver and a female passenger. They motioned for her to get in the vehicle and showed money to get her to come with them. She refused and ran home.

The other incident happened Wednesday when a middle school student was approached near 9th and Locust. The couple offered the girl $500 to get in the vehicle. The student refused and she ran home to report the incident. The vehicle was described as a blue or brown, boxy van with tinted windows.

In a letter sent home to parents, the school district stated, "Weld RE-4 staff will be functioning under heightened awareness and are taking appropriate precautions. We ask that the public be aware of the situation and remain vigilant."
