A Super Bowl Alumni Comes Home To Denver South High School

DENVER (CBS4) - Next February CBS will be home to Super Bowl 50, the Golden Super Bowl. In preparation for the countdown to the big game, the NFL has a program called "The Golden Football: Super Bowl High School Honor Roll."

The NFL is recognizing the communities and schools that produced Super Bowl players. One of those events happened at Denver South High School. Class of 2004 member and current Arizona Cardinal, Calais Campbell, visited South High on Thursday.

"It's great to see one of our players come back that's had so much success. He's a great kid. He stuck with the program all four years," said Adrian Tyson, Campbell's football coach from 2000-2004.

Campbell presented a commemorative NFL Gold Football to his alma mater and spoke to students. NFL Films also was on campus to capture the school visit.

Teachers and coaches said when Campbell was a student he wasn't just a great athlete on the field, he was a great student inside the classroom and they're proud to call him alumni.

Students were excited to meet Campbell.

"He gave me a lot of great advice and I'm excited about my future," said senior Terrik Roberts.

"It's so cool especially since sports is such a huge part of South and we're one of the best teams... Once a Rebel always a Rebel," said sophomore Marley Smith.
