It is unclear how she died but it's believed to be suspicious.

"The only thing I heard was just the cop cars swarming in and closing the street," said George Lewis, who lives across the street from where the woman was found. "I come outside and there are just cop cars swarming the place, obviously the road is closed. They come and knock at the door and they ask us if we had heard any gunshots, and we stated that we didn't."

The investigation lasted into early morning hours, but no one is in custody and there is no suspect description.

Police initially thought the woman was a victim of a hit-and-run, but now homicide detectives have taken over the case and are trying to identify the woman.

Investigators hope an autopsy will provide more details about the victim. The cause of death likely won't be released until she's identified and her family has been notified.
