GOP Presidential Hopeful Ben Carson Speaks To Supporters In Steamboat Springs
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Republican presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson spoke to supporters in Steamboat Springs on Friday.
Carson was there for the Freedom Conference where supporters from across the region were excited to hear his message.
"He just connects with people and they realize that we need someone like Dr. Ben Carson with the intelligence and also the common sense," said one supporter.
"He is saying the same things that Donald Trump is saying but he's a kind, gentle soul," said another supporter.
Carson trails Trump in the crowded Republican field of candidates. While speaking at the conference he talked about how he would shrink the federal government and tackle the growing national debt.
Carson also talked about how the issue of immigration needs attention now, not later, "Our immigration problems are not going to be fixed until we fix the border."
"I think we all realize that politicians are destroying this country and it's going to take a patriot like Dr. Ben Carson to save this country," said one supporter.
