Manning, Offense Appeared Disjointed During 1st Half In Houston

HOUSTON (CBS4) - Peyton Manning took the Broncos new offense for his first test drive Saturday night. It wasn't much of a trip.

On 4 possessions, the blend of Gary Kubiak and Manning's styles looked disjointed and out of sync. All four possessions ended with punts.

Manning actually opened the game running what sure looked like the Broncos old offense. No huddle and out of the shotgun.

But after just 3 plays, Manning and the offense were back on the sideline. The middle two possessions gave us some glimpses of what Kubiak is looking for, a balanced attack of runs and play action passes.

However, the results were the same. Stalled drives, and punts. Fair to say, the transformation is still very much a work in progress.

Manning's final stats:

8 of 14 passing for 52 yards
0 TDs
0 Interceptions
0 big plays

Peyton's longest completion on the night went for only 11 yards.

Manning will get his final spin of the preseason next Saturday night at home against the 49ers. Not doubt the Broncos will be looking for much more productivity and far fewer punts.
