Authorities ID Man Killed During Fall At Red Rocks

DENVER (CBS4) - The hiker who died after falling while climbing on rocks near Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday was a 29-year-old Vail resident.

Spencer Cooke was at Red Rocks for a concert. He died after he and a friend fell during an illegal climb that night.

It wasn't until Saturday morning that Cooke's friend was able to crawl out and find help. That man was seriously hurt, breaking several of his ribs. He has not been identified.

A toxicology report on the incident will be released at a later time.

It is against the rules at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre to climb on the rocks. There are signs posted that warn people to stay on the trail and not climb the rocks.
