Family Escapes Unharmed After Hot Air Balloon Crashes Into Power Lines

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- The first-ever hot air balloon ride for a one family was a memorable one, especially after they crashed into power lines.

It was smooth sailing until the landing when the winds kicked up and pushed the balloon off course and into a power line in Colorado Springs.

The basket clipped the wire and caused a couple of sparks. Everyone inside was okay and not harmed.

The family called it "quite the Colorado experience."

"I would absolutely do it again. I thought the gentlemen here did a fantastic job of keeping us all safe and we never thought that we were in any danger at all," said balloon rider Kathy Olson.

Police did not see any damage to the power lines but utility crews took a closer look just to make sure.
