2 Remain At Large Following Rash Of Brazen 7-Eleven Robberies In Metro Area

DENVER (CBS4) - A rash of brazen robberies throughout the Denver metro area targeted several 7-Eleven stores Monday morning.

The stores that were robbed were in Denver, Westminster and Adams County. Arrests have been made but police are still looking for two more suspects.

At least five convenience stores were robbed early in the morning. Now two teens are in custody but two adults are still at large.

It's believed the crime spree started at a store called Denver eCigs in a shopping mall near the intersection of 104th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. The store's surveillance video captured images of a burglary.

"They were in here for a total of 24 seconds and we do have a video of them," eCigs owner David Dedig said. "Two individuals broke in to the shop, one had a hammer, he broke the case and started stealing stuff."

After that a nearby 7-Eleven was robbed in Westminster, and then one in Adams County.

"It's unnerving, you know. You come to work every day, you work hard and somebody breaks in and tries to affect your hard work," Dedig said.

The spree then went southeast.

"At this time we are working with Westminster to see because they did have some instances in their jurisdiction," Raquel Lopez with Denver police said.

A store in Denver's Highlands neighborhood was robbed and then two north of Interstate 70 in Globeville.

"We've had three 7-Elevens in Denver that were robbed, and they are aggravated robberies, there were weapons involved," Lopez said.

Police were looking for a white Honda Civic connected to all the robberies. Lopez said it may have been found and the suspects who were arrested were likely near the car.

"At this time we are still looking for two suspects. we do have two suspects in custody, they are juveniles," Lopez said.

One of the suspects still being sought is described as being between 18 and 21 years old. The other is a heavy-set man between 30 and 50 years old with a tattoo on his right arm.

It's not clear how much money the suspects stole but the eCigs shop told CBS4 they took a lot of product which is going to hurt business.

Police say they will not release any more information on the suspects under arrest because they're juveniles.
