King Soopers Union Calls Cartoons Offensive
DENVER (CBS4)- Cartoons distributed by a management-level employee at King Soopers have been called offensive by the union representing the grocery store employees. The cartoons seem to be in response to a policy that encouraged employees to acknowledge customers.
The union called the drawings offensive and threatening.
One shows three people, including a Jesus caricature, with the words, "I'm just hanging around waiting for some acknowledgement."
In a letter the union president wrote, "This is a sacrilege against God."
King Soopers said the cartoons do not represent the company's values and issued this statement: "We regret the comments made by this associate, as they do not support King Soopers' values which include diversity, inclusion and respect. We have taken appropriate action. In no way should this individuals comments be a reflection of our 23,000 associates who work hard everyday to serve our customers."
