Town Of Monument Rejects Planned Methadone Clinic In Downtown Area

MONUMENT, Colo. (CBS4) - The Monument town board Monday night voted against giving a controversial methadone clinic a business license.

Neighbors have been rallying against the clinic for several months because it was going to open across the street from a park frequented by children.

According to The Gazette in Colorado Springs, the board says the clinic did not fit zoning codes.

Methadone helps people struggling with addiction to opiate drugs like heroin, and heroin use in Colorado has been skyrocketing.
