Colorado's New Felony DUI Bill Is Officially In Effect

DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado now has tougher penalties for repeat drunk drivers.

Gov. John Hickenlooper signed the felony DUI bill into law earlier this summer but it went into effect on Wednesday.

From now on a person's fourth DUI will be a felony. That person will also face more prison time and a fine as high as $500,000.

Colorado is the 46th state to implement a felony DUI law.
