Colorado Seat Belt Sting Finds Numerous Children Unbuckled
DENVER (AP) — Colorado law officers are warning parents to buckle up their children after a statewide seat belt patrol issued numerous tickets because kids weren't in car seats or seat belts.
Authorities say they wrote about 1,300 seat belt citations. The state transportation department partnered with the Colorado State Patrol and about 50 local law enforcement agencies across the state for the seat belt patrols from July 20 to July 26.
The minimum fine for a seat belt violation is $65, including improperly restrained children, and goes up to $82 for having an unrestrained child.
