Colorado Springs Detective Arrested For Alleged Misconduct

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado Springs homicide detective is facing possible criminal charges for suspected misconduct, including attempting to influence a public servant.

Police say Paul Patton was arrested Monday night after an investigation was opened Sunday and Patton revealed information that established grounds to arrest him. A statement from police said he was arrested on a warrant for first-degree official misconduct and false reporting, both misdemeanors, as well as the attempt to influence charge, a felony.

The investigation is still under way and is being conducted with the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office. If prosecutors file felony charges, Patton may lose his pay.

He has been with the police department for 15 years. It's not clear if he has a lawyer yet.
