Deputies: Sex Assault Fugitive Cut Off Ankle Monitor

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- The Adams County Sheriff's Office has asked for the public's help in locating a sex assault on a child suspect who cut off his ankle monitor.

Rafael Sanchez, 31, has two warrants out of Adams County for failure to appear and failure to comply. His last known location was in Brighton.

Sanchez's charges include sex assault on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His ex-wife told CBS4 that authorities confirmed Sanchez cut off his ankle monitor. They divorced in 2009. She said he may be living with his parents in Hudson.

Sanchez was scheduled for a motions hearing at 9 a.m. Friday. The failure to appear warrant was issued on Friday. The case has been scheduled to go to a jury trial on Sept. 14.

The charges were filed against Sanchez in April 2009 and he was arrested on Dec. 24, 2013.

He is described as a white male, 5-foot-7, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows where Sanchez is located or sees someone matching his description is asked to call 911 immediately.
