Former NBA Star Kenny Smith On Hand In Globeville To Announce New Hoops Court
DENVER (CBS4) - Residents in Denver's Globeville neighborhood will soon have a brand new basketball court to play on.
Mayor Michael Hancock and former NBA star Kenny Smith announced a $35,000 donation from Coors Light on Wednesday.
The donation was part of the Full Court Refresh program which is designed to restore community basketball courts that are in need.
"I always felt the basketball court or the park was always the centerpiece of the community," Smith said. "So when that centerpiece doesn't look the best I think intrinsically you don't feel the best about your community."
Since the program started last year, Coors Light has helped 12 cities get their courts upgraded.
