Deputies Tow Away RV As Evidence After Man Shot Inside

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4)- A man remained in critical condition after he was shot in Golden on Monday. Deputies towed away the RV as evidence after they determined the shooting happened inside.

The shooting happened early Monday morning on Kilmer Street in an RV behind a home. Investigators continued to search for the gunman on Tuesday.

"They went to the shed back there and they picked someone up, he was screaming and moaning, you know 'Help me, help me' so thankfully he was still alive when he was leaving," said neighbor John Carl.

Carl said he didn't hear anything leading up to the shooting or the shooting and was surprised when police told him a man had been shot.

"I heard the dog bark and I heard someone pounding on the door. I was dead asleep and it was the sheriff asking me if I heard anything," said neighbor Rudy Bettini.

A friend of the man who lived there, and didn't want to be identified, told CBS4 he was paying to park his RV on their property.

Other neighbors told CBS4 that while they had some issues in the past, what happened is both surprising and alarming.

"I've lived here 14 years and I've never had any problems," said Bettini.

"It's scary really because you never expect this kind of thing to happen, especially here," said Carl.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said they have no information about the suspect or possible motive. Anyone with information is asked to call the Jeffco Sheriff.
