Police Shoot, Kill Man Moments After Stabbing

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - A 22-year-old man is dead after he was shot and killed by police in Fort Collins early Saturday.

The man allegedly stabbed a woman moments before the shooting. Police say he was assaulting the woman when they arrived and then began approaching two officers with a knife and ignoring their calls to drop the weapon. They fired after that.

The crime happened just before 4 a.m. at 1225 West Prospect Road.

The woman who was stabbed was taken to the hospital and was described as having non-life threatening injuries.

A person who first called for help at the scene told dispatchers the man was threatening others and making suicidal statements, according to authorities.

No one who was involved in the incident has been identified.
