Everything Coming Up Roses At 'In Bloom' Denver Art Museum Exhibit
DENVER (CBS4)- Everything is coming up roses at the Denver Art Museum with its In Bloom exhibit. And peonies, daffodils and daises.
"It was a century that loved nature and that particularly took it as a subject of exploration," said Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture Angelica Daneo.
In Bloom, Painting Flowers in the Age of Impressionism, demonstrates how a traditional genre was reinvented by nineteenth-century artists like Édouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, and others.
"Revealed a freshness and spontaneity that in a way was not the focus of the earlier pieces," said Daneo.
The exhibit features more than 60 paintings from history's most influential painters.

"They indulged in every single petal and every single stem but that tradition was refreshed in a way in the 19th Century by the impressionists that took on this genre with a new light," said Daneo.
But it's not only paintings that visitors will experience.
"They will find flowers," said Daneo as she demonstrated different floral bouquets throughout the exhibit and a special room that brings the visitor into Monet's garden.
The In Bloom exhibit runs from July 19 to Oct. 11 at the Denver Art Museum.
