Deadly Accident Shuts Down A Portion Of Eastbound C-470

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - A deadly accident and investigation shut down eastbound C-470 from Kipling to Santa Fe Friday morning for several hours.

At 10 a.m. one lane eastbound was open and one lane westbound was open at Platte Canyon as cleanup continued.

The initial investigation by Colorado State Patrol reveals around 7:15 a.m. Friday a male driver was headed westbound on C-470 near Platte Canyon Drive in a Subaru when witnesses say he drove off the road, hit a Dodge Nitro, went through the median and ending up rolled over in the eastbound lanes.

In the process the driver was ejected and killed. The driver of the Dodge Nitro is okay.

Delays were expected to continue as lane closures remain. Alternate routes were strongly advised.
