Is It Road Rage Or A Food Fight -- Or Both?

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Most people would really have to be angry to waste a good pecan pie, but police in Boulder say a pecan pie was a casualty in a case of road rage.

Gary Strand, 62, is accused of following another driver and then throwing a pie at him. Police say the victim returned fire with chunks of the badly injured dessert.

The incident happened in the 3500 block of Arthur Court Tuesday evening.

"(The victim) said he was followed to a parking lot at his home after he left Safeway on 28th Street and admitted he tended to drive aggressively. A man got out of his vehicle and threw a pecan pie at the victim. The victim picked up the pie and threw it back at the suspect," police said in a statement.

Strand is also accused of trying to hit the victim with his car and then smashing one of the victim's vehicle's taillights.

"The suspect got back in his vehicle and 'hit the pedal' driving his car at the victim. The victim had to back up and put his hands on the hood of the suspect's car to avoid being hit," police said. "The suspect got out of his car and broke the taillight of the victim's car with a 'baton-like' object."

Strand is facing charges of felony menacing and criminal mischief.
