Mechanic Killed Trying To Stop Theft Of Customer's SUV

DENVER (CBS4) - Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information about the death of a man police say was trying to stop an auto theft when he was killed Friday morning.

Police found William Romo-Rodriguez at the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and South Hazel Court just before 4 a.m. Friday.

Romo-Rodriguez's son says a car was being worked on at El Mechanico where his father worked and his father tried to keep someone from stealing it.

When police arrived they found that Romo-Rodriguez had been "ejected from a vehicle while attempting to stop a suspect" from stealing a customer's SUV," according to police.

Police don't have any information on a suspect or suspects and would like the public's help.
