Coroner Identifies Camper Killed By Apparently Stray Bullet

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - The man who was hit by a bullet and killed while camping with his family on Friday in the Pike National Forest was a 60-year-old Monument man.

The death of Glenn A. Martin in the Rainbow Falls Park area is under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the public is being asked to help.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ron Hanavan told CBS4 they haven't determined whether the shooting was intentional or not, and so far there's no word on any suspects.

A person who was camping in the area told CBS4 there was lots of target shooting going on in the public lands at the time. Gunfire in the Pike National Forest is prohibited, but that rule apparently is often broken by people who like to discharge weapons deep in the woods.

Hanavan described the death as "traumatic for everybody involved."
