Fight Over Flags At Fort Collins Pool Party Ends Up With 1 Hospitalized

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - A man involved in a fight over flags at a pool party in Fort Collins is now listed in fair condition after suffering life-threatening injuries on Saturday.

Todd Hesser, 25, is currently hospitalized at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.

According to Cory Christensen with Fort Collins Police Services, witnesses told police Hesser and another person got into an argument over two flags and which one should be flown higher.

The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. at the Grove apartments off Centre Avenue south of Colorado State University's main campus.

According The Coloradoan in Fort Collins, it was initially reported that the Hesser had fallen and hit his head on the pool. But medical crews determined a fight had most likely broken out and they called police.

Police then determined Hesser had been punched in the face and fell and hit the concrete, according to The Coloradoan.

A 20-year-old suspect has been identified but the person's name hasn't been released. It's not clear if the suspect is in custody or if any charges will be filed.

Police said witnesses told them it was likely that Hesser was the aggressor. Police also said alcohol played a role in the incident.
