'Lots Of Bang' Pyrotechnics Experts Set Up Independence Eve Fireworks Show

DENVER (CBS4)- Spectators will see some 6,000 fireworks during the Independence Eve fireworks show on July 3. Crews spend days getting ready for the annual fireworks spectacular from the roof of Denver's City County Building.

"Lots of red, white and blue, lots of colors, lots of noise, lots of bang," said Western Enterprises spokesman Mark Freeland.

Freeland and his team work for months preparing for the annual fireworks show. The fireworks were placed on the roof of the City County Building on Thursday.

"It's designed for an intimate setting like we have here where the people are just across the street," said Freeland.

The show was choreographed to a recording of the 101st Army Band which will play the final four songs to the fireworks show.

"The hope is they will play at the same tempo, those guys are good I'm sure they'll do just fine," said Freeland.

The team from Blazen Illumination will set off the 600 lights at the City County Building in real time just like an instrument in the band.

"Kind of like a piano with keys, faders moving with the beat, keeping it live, giving it energy and getting the crowd excited about it," said Blazin Illuminations spokeswoman Allison Rocha.

The lighting team works on different events at the City County Building all year long but promises some surprises during the Independence Eve celebration.

"We'll leave them a surprise for now," said Rocha.
