2 Children Critically Injured In Crash, Driver Admits Having A Revoked License

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Two young children are in critical condition after a bad crash in Aurora late Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened on the Interstate 225 off ramp at 17th Place. Witnesses told police that a Jeep ran a red light and was broadsided by a pickup truck.

The driver of the Jeep has been identified as Geraldo Estrada, 29, of Denver.

Estrada's 2-year-old son was ejected. His 5-year-old nephew had to be extricated from the vehicle by Aurora firefighters.

"We believe the 2-year-old was not properly restrained in a child seat and was ejected from the Jeep upon impact," Lt. Michael McClelland said in a statement.

Estrada went to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say he admitted he was driving on a revoked license because of many traffic violations. He could face child abuse charges.

The driver of the pickup has been identified as Noah Montoya, 32, of Englewood. Police haven't said if he was injured.

Police said they don't believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
