Witnesses See Child Hurt By Man Inside Department Store

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Witnesses saw a man hurt a young child while they were shopping at a department store and now police want to make sure the child is okay.

The injury was caught on surveillance video at the Nordstrom Rack located in Belmar in Lakewood.

"We don't see all of this in the video but we have witnesses that saw it and are telling our people the adult male was hitting the juvenile very hard, way beyond a disciplinary thing," said Lakewood Police spokesman Steve Davis.

Police are so concerned about what the witness told them and what was seen on surveillance they are asking for the public's help finding the child to make sure his living situation isn't dangerous.

"Being hit with an open hand and finally knocked to the ground and we can see in the video that the juvenile male was kicked while he was down," said Davis.
