Retaining Wall Collapses Behind Castle Rock Shopping Center

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4)- A retaining wall came crashing down behind a shopping mall in Castle Rock on Thursday afternoon.

Karen Carter, a spokeswoman with the Town of Castle Rock said a large portion of the retaining wall washed out behind the Sprouts store.

No one was injured. The area has been blocked off.

Carter believes the collapse could be attributed to the continuous rain that has fallen in the area in recent weeks.

Copter4 flew over the wall which showed that two levels of the wall had completely collapsed and the other two levels beneath those were bulging and about to crumble.

The businesses remained open.
