Another Of Holmes' CU Psychiatrists Takes The Stand: 'He Hated Humanity'

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - Another important witness took the stand late Wednesday afternoon in the Aurora theater shooting trial. It was a second University of Colorado psychiatrist who treated defendant James Holmes.

Back in September of 2012 CBS4 first reported that three mental health professionals at the University of Colorado had dealt with Holmes. The second of the three, Dr. Robert Feinstein, took the stand, but before he testified a friend of the defendant's was heard from.

Holmes' circle of friends was pretty small. Among them was fellow CU neuroscience student Ben Garcia. It so happened Garcia also dyed his hair.

"During this period of time did you change your hair color?" District Attorney George Brauchler asked Garcia.

"I changed it to red," Garcia replied.

"When did you do that?" Brauchler asked.

"Sometime in spring," he said.

Garcia testified he was concerned Holmes seemed hostile and angry about the world after he broke up with his girlfriend.

"Had he ever told you or showed you that he possessed a cellphone stun gun?" Brauchler asked.

"No," Garcia said.

"How about a folding knife?" Brauchler asked.

"No," Garcia said.

"Did he tell you that he had purchased or intended to purchase two canisters of tear gas?" Brauchler asked.

No," Garcia repled.

Brauchler asked Garcia about several other items Holmes possessed but Garcia replied that he wasn't told about any of them.

Holmes sat with no emotion as usual. He was the same as Feinstein took the witness stand. Feinstein took part in sessions with Holmes along with Dr. Lynne Fenton.

"He asked if I was going to lock him up," Feinstein said. "I asked him why would I need to lock him up?"

He said Holmes indicated he hated everybody -- and nobody.

"He hated humanity, but whenever those kinds of questions related to homicidal came up, that was usually followed up by me with questions of, did he have a specific target? Did he have specific plan? Did he have any access to weapons?" Feinstein said.

Feinstein will return to the stand on Thursday.

Veronica Moser Sullivan, 6

On Friday Ashley Moser is to testify and the defense is very concerned. The defense has been asking the judge to have her testimony limited. She is paralyzed and her 6-year-old daughter Veronica Moser-Sullivan was killed. She also lost her baby that she was pregnant with at the time.
