6th Avenue Scheduled For Major Closure Monday Night

DENVER (CBS4) - A major closure of 6th Avenue in Denver is scheduled for Monday night.

The road will be closed between Federal and Sheridan boulevards overnight. Colorado Department of Transportation crews will be pouring the deck on a new pedestrian bridge that will connect Barnum's North and South parks.

The closure starts at 10 p.m. and is expected to reopen Tuesday at 5 a.m.

"This is a critical step to opening up this bridge," CDOT Project Director Kevin Sullivan said in a statement. "It's on schedule to open in the next few weeks, bringing a brand new connection between Barnum North and South parks for the community."

Crews will also close 5th Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving operations.
