Woman Injures Aurora Officer, Flees The Scene

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - The search is on for a woman who attacked a police officer. Aurora police are also looking for the car she was driving because it's believed to be stolen.

According to police, a woman stopped to get gas near 11 Avenue and Havana Street when she was approached by an investigator with the East Metro Auto Theft Team. Police said that investigator tried to question the woman while she was getting gas. She told the officer that the car, which was believed to be stolen, was her brother's.

The woman then tried to flee and an officer tried to pull her from the car and was elbowed. He tried to use a stun gun on the woman but was unsuccessful and she was able to get away.

The officer suffered some minor injuries.

The woman was driving a black 2004 four-door Saab. Officers spotted the car around Aurora Friday night but didn't chase it -- that's their standard procedure. The car doesn't have a license plate. It's got a temporary tag 335-792-N.
