Mudslides Force Colorado Springs Families From Homes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Several families were forced from their homes early Friday morning after mudslides at a mobile home park in Colorado Springs.

Homes were lifted off their foundations while people were inside. Families living in eight of those homes were evacuated. Nearly a dozen more homes have been placed on standby as crews evaluate whether more of the hill will slide.

"We got most of our personal items out of the place, everything else is just collateral damage if anything, you know? As long as we have our animals and family here that's all that matters," said one resident who was forced from the home.

The Red Cross is working with those who had to leave to find temporary housing through the weekend.

It's believed heavy, constant rain over the past couple of weeks contributed to the hill slide.
