Man Who Attacked Women On Fort Collins Trails Sentenced

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- The man who attacked at least six women along trails in Fort Collins last year has been sentenced.

On Tuesday a judge sentenced Jose Alderete-Gomez to 22 years in prison, the maximum sentencing range for the felony counts against him.

Alderete-Gomez, 27, pleaded guilty in March to serious bodily injury and harassment charges in exchange for other charges being dropped.

The arrest late last year ended a frightening few weeks around the CSU campus. For months police warned women, especially around CSU, to pay extra attention and walk in groups. It seemed nobody could identify the attacker until a break in the case.

Gomez pleaded guilty to two charges in two separate cases -- one that he punched his girlfriend in the face, breaking her nose; and another that ties him to a series of assaults on women in Larimer County and around the CSU campus.
