Heavy Rain Floods Streets, Parks, Bike Paths In Metro Area

DENVER (CBS4)- Rising water in the Denver metro area is a concern as it starts to flood roads, parks and bike paths.

About a ½ inch to an inch of water has fallen in the Denver metro area since Monday night. The areas that have been on the higher end of those totals are Arvada and Evergreen.

The Cherry Creek Bike Path has also been one area where there is a lot of standing water. Parts of the path were under water on Tuesday afternoon.

Despite the rising water levels, some cyclists continued to ride through the water on the path.

The heavy rain also created challenges in Confluence Park where the rushing water nearly toppled trash cans and signs. The river levels have been rising Tuesday morning but with the rain expected to taper off, those water levels should go back down.
