DU Lacrosse Joins The Final Four After Scare Against Ohio State, Will Face Notre Dame

DENVER (CBS4) - University of Denver lacrosse is in the Final Four for the third straight season, but it did look in doubt for a while Saturday against Ohio State at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The Pioneers trailed 7-1 in the second quarter before closing the half on a 5-0 run and starting the second half on a 4-0 run.

Wes Berg had a sock trick -- six goals -- as DU rallied to win 15-13.

The Pioneers will face top-seeded Notre Dame, a team they beat in the regular season, Saturday in Philadelphia.

"I think the big thing for this coming week is going to be two-fold. Number one, we haven't won a semi-final yet, and that's going to be our goal. And number two, most of the second games of regular season games during the tournament the team who lost has come back and won, so we're going to have to stop that trend or we'll be coming home early again," head coach Bill Tierney said. "We know what a great team Notre Dame is, we know what we're up against, but they're a team that we know and they know us very well. It's going to be a great day."

While DU has become a Final Four regular, they have yet to play in a championship game.
