Pat Bowlen Elected To Broncos Ring Of Fame

DENVER (CBS4) - The Broncos announced on Wednesday that Pat Bowlen will join the Ring of Fame.

Right before the start of Broncos training camp last year the Denver Broncos announced that owner Pat Bowlen had Alzheimer's disease and had stepped down from the team's day-to-day operations.

Bowlen's name will now join the legendary names in Broncos lore which are featured on the fifth level facade of the stadium.

The Ring of Fame, created during Bowlen's tenure, honors former players and staffers who have played significant roles in the franchise's history.

Denver Broncos President and CEO Joe Ellis was set to talk to reporters about the selection of Bowlen on Wednesday afternoon.

Broncos GM John Elway said Bowlen is the "most deserving of anyone ever elected."

The induction ceremony will take place on Nov. 1 during halftime of the home game against the Green Bay Packers.

Last October, the team unveiled a bronze statue of Bowlen outside of Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Part of an inscription on a plaque near the statue reads: "I want us to be number one in everything."
