Heavy Spring Rain Has A Few Reservoirs Spilling Over

DENVER (CBS4) - Heavy precipitation this spring can be seen all around, be it in the form of green grass or standing puddles.

It can also be seen on a few of our area reservoirs.

Denver Water is releasing water from both the Cheesman and Strontia Springs Reservoirs to ensure there is still room for spring runoff and to keep water moving through their system.

For a detailed discussion on why they are choosing to use spillways instead of large valves built into the dam click here.

It's not clear how long each reservoir will spill because there are a number of factors involved besides the weather, but with a wet outlook in the CBS4 Five Day 4cast there is a chance they will be running at least through the weekend.
