Forensic Evidence Leads Police To 'You Have Enemies' Threats Suspect
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Boulder say they have the man responsible for threats made to two Jewish organizations during Passover under arrest.
Jeffrey Klinkel, 32, was arrested on Thursday and now tentatively faces charges that include felony menacing. Police said forensic evidence led them to Klinkel.
On April 6 employees at the Jewish Community Center, located on the 3800 block of Kalmia Avenue in unincorporated Boulder County, opened an envelope containing white powder and a letter that stated "You have enemies."
There were about a dozen preschool children in the building at the time, along with staff, and an evacuation took place. Two suspicious packages were also discovered outside the building and one was removed by a bomb squad.
No one was hurt in the incident and the white powder was determined to be non-toxic.
Another envelope containing harmless white powder was also discovered at the Congregation Har HaShem at 3950 Baseline Road.
FBI officials and the Colorado Department of Health assisted Boulder police with the investigation.
Klinkel also faces charges of explosive/biological hoax, a felony, and interference with a school facility, a midemeanor. He's being held at the Boulder County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
