Police said Zamora ran through the neighborhood, causing a big disturbance and making a lot of noise until finally he stopped at one home and broke in. The banging actually started in the back of the house when the female resident of the home called 911.

Caller: "Some guy, we were watching TV and somebody is beating on our door, I thought it was a shotgun I thought somebody shot us."
911 Dispatcher: "Okay and then your husband got a gun and shot him."
Caller: "Right."

After Zamora broke through two front doors, one glass, the homeowner shot him.

Police believe Zamora may have tried to break into other homes in the area before reaching the final house. He first rattled the door of an apartment just doors down from his own where that resident also called 911.

Caller: "Somebody just tried to open my door, ummm... I locked it but they tried the handle and then I heard running away."

Police will hand over the case to Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett once they complete their investigation. It will be up to the DA whether charges are filed.
