Broncos Player Says Deflategate Findings Don't Affect This Year

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS) - An NFL investigation concludes some New England Patriots employees likely deflated footballs and quarterback Tom Brady was "at least generally aware" of the rules violations.

The NFL started investigating after the Patriots won the AFC Championship game in January. The Indianapolis Colts made the complaint after measuring one of the Patriots' game balls after an interception.

At the Denver Broncos team headquarters, the players stayed focus on the coming season, not the past.

"That's last year. This is a new year," said defensive end Derek Wolfe. "If they want to deflate balls, let them deflate balls. At the end of the day, we've got to go out there and play football. That's what it comes down to. It's just a bunch of guys running into each other at the end of the day. The toughest guy usually wins."

When reporters asked Wolfe if he was bothered about the findings that a Patriots lockerroom attendant had deflated the ball and Brady likely had general knowledge about the violation.

Brady denied knowledge of tampering with footballs during a news conference days just after that game.

"I don't care," Wolfe said. "I can't change it. If I say something, it's not going to change the outcome of the Super Bowl that just happened, right? It doesn't really matter. Are they going to take it away from them? That's not going to affect me at all. That's not going to put any more money in my pockets. It's not going to give me a ring. I'm more worried about our team going to win a ring."

The Patriots won that game against the Colts 45-7 before going on to win the Super Bowl and Brady was named the MVP.

The report said there is no evidence any other Patriots player or staffer was involved, specifically adding investigations do no believe coach Bill Belichik, any other coach or team ownership knew about the violations.
